Fahmy is a PhD candidate at the Transport Systems and Logistics Laboratory, Centre for Transport Studies at Imperial College London. Fahmy’s research interests lie at the intersection of cooperative connected vehicles, machine learning and optimal control.
Whilst undertaking his degree, Fahmy has also assumed leadership roles in department projects. He is involved in supporting a interdiscplinary team for the Formula Student AI competition (https://www.imeche.org/events/formula-student/team-information/fs-ai); an intitiative hosted by the IMechE where student’s compete to develop and race an autonomous Formula One car. Likewise, Fahmy also led the group who won the Gravity Challenge competition hosted by Delloite (https://gravitychallenge.space/). The team’s solution proposed an intelligent solution to help improve remote worker safety in the Northern Territory in Australia.
Prior to starting his PhD, Fahmy completed his MEng degree in Civil Engineering from Imperial College London, graduating in 2018. Following completion of his degree, he worked at Atkins, a leading engineering consultancy and as a Data Scientist in the energy industry.
