So far, we have covered the techniques that logistics companies use to determine how will their customers be visited, using algorithms such as the TSP and the VRP. However, both of these have assumed that the location of the facility is known.
In practice, selecting a facility location (for warehouses, factories or distribution centres) is an essential component of the supply chain planning process. In this session, we will be introducing the fundamentals of facility location planning and discussing some of the models used in practice.
