Biography
Jose is Assistant Professor in Aviation & Logistics and a member of the Centre for Transport Engineering & Modelling at Imperial College London. He works on collaborative vehicle control, last-mile logistics and urban air mobility, using optimisation, machine learning and game-theoretic models.
Jose joined the Centre for Transport Studies in October 2015 as part of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Sustainable Civil Engineering and was awarded his PhD in March 2021. His thesis developed an optimisation framework for planning and evaluating humanitarian relief operations using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The models account for energy consumption, flight trajectories, recharging requirements and civil aviation navigation specifications.
Alongside his PhD, he worked with WeRobotics on UAV field-deployment protocols and as a consultant with the United Nations World Food Programme on the first Humanitarian UAV Coordination Mechanism.
Jose also holds a first-class MEng degree in Civil Engineering from Imperial College London, graduating in 2015.
