He is a PhD student at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), supervised by Prof Constantinos Antoniou and co-supervised by Prof Panagiotis Angeloudis at Imperial College London. He started his PhD in February 2024 as part of the Autonomous Transport for Harmonised Low-Carbon Operations and Sustainability (ATHLOS) project.

Tao received his bachelor’s degree in Road, Bridge and River-crossing Engineering, with a specialisation in Highway Engineering, from Chang’an University in China, and his master’s degree in Transportation Systems from TUM. His master’s thesis, on the siting of urban air mobility systems in multimodal transportation networks, received the ITS Bavaria Best Thesis Award in 2024.
